Dalblair
Veterinary Surgery was originally established around 1908
and was situated in Smith Street. This close proximity to the railway
station was helpful as a lot of the early veterinary work involved
the treatment of the draught horses owned by the railway company.
The founders of the firm, as well as doing their local calls, were
also in the habit of putting their horse on the train at Ayr, once
or twice a week, disembarking at Barrhill and doing a round of farm
calls in south Ayrshire on horseback.
The
move to Dalblair road was made in 1982 as the small animal side
of the business was increasing and the new premises afforded more
space both inside and also for parking.
Further extensive expansion and renovations were made in 2000 with
the purchase of adjacent ground and property and the demolition
and rebuild of a purpose designed small animal facility.
The present premises house a modern and up to date small animal
unit, the farm office and administration offices, large car parking
area, outbuildings and a self contained living area.
We also have a Branch Surgery: Hunter Street, PRESTWICK KA9 1LG,
Tel: 01292 477082. The surgery specialises in Small Animal only
and is open Monday to Friday.
